IPTV on Samsung Smart TV: Tizen Setup Guide
Samsung's Tizen operating system doesn't allow sideloading APK files the way Android TV does, which is the most common point of confusion for Samsung owners trying to set up IPTV. There are two reliable paths instead, and both are straightforward once you know which one applies to your setup.

Why Samsung TVs Need a Different Setup Path
Tizen, Samsung's Smart TV operating system, only allows apps distributed through the Samsung Smart Hub app store. You can't install a player app directly from an M3U link the way you can on Android TV. Instead, the standard approach is the Smart IPTV (SIPTV) app, available in the Samsung app store, which is activated using your TV's MAC address rather than a username and password.
Method 2: Use a Streaming Stick
If your Samsung TV doesn't support the SIPTV app, or you'd rather use the same player apps available on Android (IPTV Smarters, TiviMate), plug a Fire TV Stick, Chromecast with Google TV, or Android TV box into any free HDMI port. This gives you the full flexibility of Android-based IPTV apps regardless of your TV's built-in OS — see our Firestick setup guide for that walkthrough.
Common Samsung IPTV Issues
If the SIPTV app shows a blank channel list, double-check that the playlist URL was entered exactly as provided (no trailing spaces) on the app's activation page at siptv.app, using the MAC address shown on your TV. If playback stutters, test your Samsung TV's Wi-Fi signal strength in Settings → General → Network, or switch to a wired connection using a USB-to-Ethernet adapter.
Step-by-Step Setup
- 1
Install Smart IPTV from the Samsung app store
On your Samsung remote, open the Smart Hub, search for 'Smart IPTV' or 'SIPTV', and install the free app.
- 2
Find your TV's MAC address
Open the installed SIPTV app — it will display a unique MAC address on screen. Write this down.
- 3
Register the MAC address online
On a phone or computer, go to siptv.app/faq, create a free account, and add your TV's MAC address along with the M3U playlist URL from your IPTV subscription.
- 4
Reload the app on your TV
Restart the SIPTV app on your Samsung TV. It will automatically pull your channel and VOD list using the MAC address you just registered.

Frequently Asked Questions
No — Tizen does not support sideloading APK files, so IPTV Smarters and similar Android apps cannot be installed directly on a Samsung TV. Use the Smart IPTV (SIPTV) app instead, or connect a streaming stick.
The app itself is free to install and use for playback. Some regions or long-term uses may prompt an optional one-time activation fee through the SIPTV website, separate from your actual IPTV subscription.
Go to Settings → General → Network → Network Status → IP Settings on most Samsung Tizen models; the MAC address is listed there.
